Fantastic snow conditions, great variety for intermediate skiers and good options for advanced skiers. Empty slopes, well groomed runs, virtually no queues - for us, who’ve skied in Europe, Colorado and NZ this offered the best conditions by a long way. Very enjoyable.

After learning to ski in New Zealand over two brief seasons and paying an arm and a leg for congested, short, icy runs I was blown away with Sun Peaks. I went there on a friend's recommendation and was not disappointed. Lots of Aussies and Kiwis there, I guess because they know a good thing when they see it. I am frankly stunned at some of the comments here about the lack of variety. I guess its all relative isn't it? I am an intermediate skier and Sun Peaks was absolutely perfect for me. There is a bit of everything there - skiing through the trees, off piste, but most of all, large empty beautiful blue groomers. The best for getting your skill level up. So if you're a pro, then yeah, maybe best to head over to Kicking horse or Revelstoke. For the rest of us, this place is perfect, no queues, large areas to learn to carve and then plenty of blacks to progress to eventually when I get good enough. Apres ski? Yeah well its not Europe, but there is more than enough there for us older folk. Couple of very decent pubs, Japanese, Italian and Western style restaurants, and a couple really good cafes to grab a hot coffee in between sessions. Everything I want - I'll be back this year for sure.
Excellent groomers, great all-around ski resort
Fairly limited restaurant selections maybe

Sun Peaks is a beautiful resort in BC, underrated. You have to ski this place a lot to learn where the good stuff is. Tips is if you can walk a few 100 metres you ll have fresh pow almost guaranteed, just don't say it too loud. Villahe is quaint, folks are friendly, and its a great destination for families. I would add that summer and biking is starting to get a name there! Enjoy 4500 acres of terrain with no lines!
Variety of terrain, simple terrain Backcountry great for intro, solid village vibe, no lines
I d say no huge parties but that's ok and can stay in whistler.
O My Gosh
Just a bunch of intermediate and beginner runs. Food is very bad. really should just be a local resort, not a destination. Large yes, but that is like a huge buffet with all the trays holding potato dishes.
Very Flat
Even Flatter

I have skied all over B.C. and can't believe how underrated Sun Peaks is. Great terrain including lots of black runs, great slack country, and an awesome village with friendly staff. Just don't tell anyone!
excellelnt variety of terrian including easy acess to slack country . No lift lines, great ski in ski out and awesome village
can't think of any
I went here for a week in 2021. A lot of hype regarding the 2nd largest resort in Canada. It's mostly beginner & intermediate terrain. Very little advanced & expert terrain. Also an antiquated lift system for the size of the resort. Limited dining options in the base village. Also it's hard to get to. It's an all day trek from the US. For skiing in Canada I much more prefer Whistler, Revi or Kicking Horse. Whistler is crowded but lots of lifts & infrastructure there. Also it's easy to get to flying into Vancouver.

Sun peaks is great for families,
Overall, loved the resort and would recommend to friends. But the friendliness of staff is what really made it . From the chair lift operators to rental staff to restaurant staff. Everyone seemed happy to be there.
Lots of options of runs for all levels
signage, could use more signs part way down the hills, got lost a couple of times trying to get back to condo

I live in Vancouver and have skied in most of BC's ski areas. Every ski area in BC gets compared to Whistler, so for Sun Peaks: - There is not as much hair-raising terrain as at Whistler, and Sun Peaks has no runs where you look down between the tips of your skis to see the bottom of the run below. - Lift lines are usually non-existent, unlike Whistler. Although Whistler is a much larger ski area, it a major international destination and it is an easy day trip for 2.5 million people in greater Vancouver, so weekends in particular are very crowded at Whistler. _ There is far more ski-in ski-out accommodation at Sun Peaks. - Whistler usually has more snow but it is closer to the coast and has a warmer and wetter environment, and there could be some rain at any time of year followed by freezing temperatures that create icy ski runs. At Sun Peaks the temperature usually goes below freezing in November and doesn't get above freezing until mid to late March. - The village at Sun Peaks is better than the villages at other ski areas in the interior of BC but it cannot compare to Whistler. When I was young a weekend in Whistler was really something to look forward to ("Babe-a-lonia" to young guys) but now I'm married with kids and I prefer Sun Peaks. I think John from the UK who didn't like the lifts at Sun Peaks must have been skiiing on some of the older ones, in particular the Burfield chair which was the longest in North America when it was installed in the 1960s. It accesses some great terrain but it has not been upgraded and it takes 22 minutes from bottom to top, although there are plans to terminate it at mid-station because the top will be accessed by the relocated Crystal chair. The high-speed detachable lifts are Sundance, Sunburst and Morrissey. Unlike him, I think the prices at Sun Peaks are fairly average for North American ski resorts and much lower than at Whistler. The village has a decent selection of restaurants but his comment about disappointing après-ski is accurate if he is looking for nightlife other than a couple of pubs that clear out fairly early. Sun Peaks is a 4 hour drive for me, but my wife and kids and I go there for about 3 or 4 weekends during ski season. The other BC interior ski areas that I like are Silver Star and Big White, but compared to them Sun Peaks is an hour less driving time each way from Vancouver, has more difficult runs and usually has better conditions, and has a nicer village and amenities. Revelstoke is a great and very challenging ski resort but for me it's too far for weekend trips.
Usually great snow, no lines, lots of ski-in and out accommodation
Less expert terrain than some other mountains, not much nightlife

I'm from the UK and this is probably the worst out dated ski resort I've skied in 20 years, 1,the lifts are very out dated 2,the lift pass system out dated 3,resort is very expensive and boring 4,no mountain restaurants 5,do you now what apres ski is 6,town is very out dated and a RIP off 7,all the hotels and rooms are very very out dated I would not recommend this resort to any one and watch out for the false sun peaks advertising on how great the place is as it is not.
